Be-Caution-when-Using-Thermoelectric-Module
author:P&N Tech   Time : 2016-08-02 browse:473

1. Thermoelectric Module must be handled with care, to prevent falling or knocking, and avoid being damaged by impact;

2. The surface of objects contacting with thermoelectric module must be finely processed, at thermoelectric assembly time, the contact surfaces have to be smeared by thermal grease in a balance amount, to minimize thermal resistance. Never connecting to the power before heat sink was installed onto the hot side, or the thermoelectric module may be damaged;

3. The heat on hot side must be dissipated promptly, otherwise, the temperature gets high, it will impact the cooling effect, and also the thermoelectric module may be damaged. The highest temperature of hot side must be lower than 90℃ for standard series thermoelectric module. The lower the temperature is, the better the cooling effect will be;

4.  When fastening the Thermoelectric module, please pay attention: the pressure must not exceed 10kg/cm2.  When  you clamp thermoelectric module with the heat sink and cold blocks, you must align the upper and lower holes, increase appropriate pressure on the heat sink to avoid partial pressure crusing the ceramics. Screws should use washers and plastic insulating sleeve;

5. To improve the reliability of thermoelectric module, the input working voltage and current should be lower than the maximum voltage and current.  Generally, the input voltage is controlled to be around 12V for the standard series thermoelectric module(TEM).  During operation, the current will get lower along with the thermoelectric module temperature going up.

6. The ripple factor of DC power should be less than 10%;

7.  No matter if they are in use or being tested, you must not instantly change the current direction (usually you can do so after more than 10 minutes). Otherwise, the TEM will probably be damaged;

8. Water or other liquid should be prevented from going inside the TEM.
